Andrey Kapustin is a Russian-Brazilian-American film director, editor, and radio producer pursuing his MFA in Film, Video, New Media, and Animation at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Graduating from UC Berkeley's history department, Kapustin's thesis took an oral historical approach, studying the sentiments of locals in the Donbas of Ukraine in 2014. In his films, he continues to examine questions about personal and collective identity and history, particularly focusing on his own multicultural/linguistic background as a half-Russian, half-Brazilian. His current work exists on the border of fiction and non-fiction, examining the capacity of all individuals to invent their own stories. His Russian language docufiction short film All About My Father was awarded the 2024 Eisner Prize for film and premiered at the Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive (BAMPFA).

When not doing client work in video/podcast, he is directing his independent projects that ask 'what it is like to live in this particular time or place?'
